A former Boeing quality inspector who filed a whistleblower complaint over alleged plane safety flaws was found dead "from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound," officials in Charleston, South Carolina, said Monday. Boeing said then that it was following the ruling and would look to improve the design of the nut, but also said it wasn't a flight safety issue. After his retirement in 2017, Barnett filed a whistleblower complaint to federal regulators about his experiences at the South Carolina plant.

CNN —A loud bang, a jolt, and cold air whooshing suddenly through the cabin: these were the immediate signs that something was very wrong aboard Alaska Airlines flight 1282, according to one passenger report. As investigators work to determine exactly what caused the incident, we look at what happens when an aircraft experiences a sudden loss of cabin pressure and the risks for those on board. “As the aircraft climbs, the cabin pressure will eventually settle to about 8,000 feet. The flight crew will immediately start working to get the aircraft down to about 10,000 feet, where the air will be breathable. There will also be a massive wind blast as all that pressure in the cabin goes out the hole.

CNN —Tiger Woods says he’s only prepared to walk away from playing golf when he no longer believes he can be competitive as he insisted that’s currently not the case. “I love competing, I love playing,” Woods told reporters ahead of his highly-anticipated return to competitive golf. While confirming the operation to fuse his ankle earlier this year was successful, Woods said that his recovery took its toll. “Unfortunately I’ve had experience, I’ve gone through it before and I’m here on the good side now.”Woods has not played competitive golf since April, 2023. (AP) — A Montana man intends to plead guilty to threatening to kill Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Tester under the terms of a deal filed Monday by federal prosecutors. Anthony James Cross of Billings faces up to 10 years in prison at sentencing if the plea agreement is accepted by the court. Cross, 30, has been jailed since late April, when he was arrested on a state charge for allegedly threatening a neighbor with a pellet gun.
